What does a next door neighbor band, a third grade teacher who played acoustic guitar, and an Earth, Wind & Fire concert have in common? Unknowingly they planted an eternal musical seed in the band’s founder, Phil Muckle (Bass) at the tender age of 8 that has flourished into the phenomenal vision behind Sol Factor. From playing drums, to picking up the bass as a teenager, to taking a seven-year hiatus, Phil couldn’t shake his musical gift.
As a result, the highly acclaimed band Sol Factor was formed in 2004 and became well known for its highly diverse energized musical talents — flawlessly bridging the gap between jazz, R&B, hip-hop & soul.
From original tunes with powerful instrumental interpretations and smooth vocals to soul-filled variations of popular music, Sol Factor was considered far from the standard “cover band.” After enduring numerous setbacks and sleepless nights, the band would debut their freshman CD, Blue Couch that same year. Fans could not get enough of their instrumental version of Floetry’s “Say Yes”.
Over the years as a band — and sometimes individually — members of Sol Factor would go on to perform or record with national recording artists, including: T.I., Akon, Rick Ross, Stevie Wonder, Sunshine Anderson, Fantasia, New Edition, India Arie, Rahsaan Patterson, Tamela Mann, Donnell Jones, Tyler Perry and many more.
In December of 2007, the band was selected by Tyler Perry to become the exclusive tour band performing nationwide from 2008-09 his critically acclaimed stage play “The Marriage Counselor”.
Sol Factor has proven to be one of the most distinct, soulful & energetic bands in the music industry. They continue to win over audiences with their sensational musical style. A must see performance, indeed.
